Say hello to the newest supermarket concept to hit Beijing: Hello Mart. With aisles of quality goods, a craft beer bar, bakery, food court and rows of kiosks selling arts and crafts – check out the intricate embroidery and ornate rugs from Nepal and Kashmir – this is not your average grocery store. The massive center serves as a luxurious shopping experience, but that’s to be expected as it’s propped right next door to the Four Seasons.
Similar to Jenny Lou’s new concept, Jenny Lou’s Green, Hello Mart takes the ‘one-stop-shop’ idea even further with exceptional offerings, featuring aquariums full of fresh seafood and a DIY salad greens section (yes, you can actually snip leaves straight from the chilled pots of plants in the vegetable aisle). Is it your everyday go-to market? Probably not – and if it is, cheers to you – but it does make for an especially swanky Saturday afternoon.
